15 SIGNS THAT YOU LIVE ON THE ROAD FULL-TIME

15 SIGNS THAT YOU LIVE ON THE ROAD FULL-TIME

#1

You are not camping there, you are just “resting” right?

#2

You no longer abusively curse at the grey nomads doing 80/90 kph because after a few months you too have joined the ‘in the slow lane’ club.

#3

Brushing your teeth anywhere and everywhere becomes absolutely normal.

#4

You wish that there was such thing as an endless supply of baby wipes!

#5

But when you do shower you think “when was the last time I showered WITHOUT thongs on?!”

#6

Laundry day pretty much has you in hysterics because paying $25-$30 to have clean clothes is pushing the weekly budget boundaries.

#7

Then your whole world comes crashing down when you realise the laundromat machines are shithouse and your clothes come out still dirty.

#8

Rice cakes, tuna tins, bbq hot chickens and pasta become a HUGE part of your diet.

#9

You cannot go past the no name brands when it saves you more than half the price!

Would you look at that, rice cakes and a hot chook, ha-ha!

#10

More often than not you will find a roll of toilet paper in your pocket because being caught out mid poo in a rest area toilet is baaadddd news.

#11

And when there is a line, you are tempted to look for a bush. Learn how to poo efficiently in the bush here.

#12

At night you begin to notice that the mosquitoes chase the flies away.

#13

You swept your house once a week, at best, but now you find yourself doing it at least 4 times a day!!! All hail the banister brush.

Hot water? What’s that? Please tell me more…..

#15

You become very protective of the area you have chosen to camp and if your overly large bubble is burst, well….. an abrupt lesson on the hashtag #homeiswhereyouparkit may occur.

  1. Yup, sounds pretty familiar. Except the cold water. We have the luxury to shower with hot water inside our campervan. But it’s our first van with a shower. Before I must admit we had the same issue.

And camping under the stars is absolutely the best, but you’re way better at taking a cool picture from that then we are 😞

Advice from us: buy a waterproof duffel, fill it with water and some biodegradable detergent, put your dirty clothes in it, close the duffel, put it somewhere same in your van and start driving for miles. Fresh clothes guaranteed 😃

    1. Thanks Roy!! YouTube has helped us A LOT with our astro photography 🙂
Yessss, we use our dry bags to wash clothes when desperate. I have done it quite a lot now and it does work a treat just takes effort rinsing them out haha I hate that part!

    1. 8 nights, 8 weeks, 8 months…..all ends up feeling the same! hahaha 🙂 Thank-you! Hope you have been getting some epic adventures in with the SUV camper, sounds rad!

  2. 100% accurate! We have been living on the road now for just over 15 months and can pretty much say we have thought and said the same things out loud.
It’s the best way to live though. Great post.
